John Howell
John grew up hunting and fishing on his family ranch in Nebraska. He has always had a passion for the outdoors and sports, especially football. While attending Colorado State University on a football scholarship John continued his involvement with the family ranch as his love for the outdoors grew stronger.
In 2001 he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fourth round and won a Super Bowl Championship with them in 2002. During this time John became heavily involved in the hunting industry through organizations such as SCI, Dallas Safari Club, and the NRA. His hunting adventures worldwide inspired his idea of developing Dismal River Outfitters.
After four years in Tampa John went to the Seattle Seahawks with former teammate and good friend Joe Jurevicius. They continued to develop a strong friendship through football and hunting trips in the off-season and Joe's partnership with Dismal River Outfitters began. They have put the same hard work and dedication that helped them become professional athletes into creating a sportsmans paradise. |

After a string of injuries John has retired from the NFL and lives in Colorado with his wife Laura and their 3 children. He is now a full time guide and manager of Dismal River Outfitters.

Joe
grew up near Cleveland on the shores of Lake Erie. Fishing for perch, steelhead and walleye became second nature to him. Joe's true love though is his passion for hunting. Whether scouting for game along the Dismal River or hunting the scenic terrain of Africa, Canada or the United States, Joe has turned his need to hunt into an obsession.
Growing up in a blue collar family taught Joe one thing, hard work. It's with this foundation that has led Joe to 10 years of pro football, 3 Super Bowl's and a 2 time cover boy of Sports Illustrated. Joe's time in the NFL has afforded him many opportunities but none greater than partnering with friend and Super Bowl XXXVII teammate John Howell to bring you the memories of the Dismal River.
Joe currently plays for the Cleveland Browns and resides there with his wife Meagan and two daughters. |
